Vista Upgrade Workaround Discovered

An IT professional is believed to have found a way of upgrading to a full version of Vista from scratch, while paying only for the cost of upgrading an earlier version of Windows.
Microsoft offers existing Windows users several routes to upgrade an existing version of Windows on their computer to the recently launched Vista operating system.
Although these upgrades are supposed to work only on a PC that contains an existing copy of Windows, Marc Liron, a Microsoft MVP (Most Valuable Professional), has discovered a method of working round this procedure.
Liron has found a way of installing the complete version of Vista, which is included in the upgrade package, onto computers without the system first checking for an existing authorised copy of Windows.
According to Microsoft, anyone using the workaround would be in violation of their licence terms.
At the moment Microsoft is not threatening to penalise anyone who uses the workaround, or block them from important upgrades via its Genuine Advantage. It is, however, advising customers to follow official guidelines for upgrading to Windows Vista, which can be found at www.windowsvista.com.
