« Morris Worm: 16 years ago today | Main | Protx DDoS attack » November 04, 2004Apache snubs MicrosoftThe Apache Software Foundation, and the Debian GNU/Linux Project, have both rejected a new attempt by Microsoft to have it's "SenderID" protocol accepted into the software library. Concerns about licensing issues relating to the actual SenderID protocol, and how it would impact the open source development of Apache - one of the biggest and most distributed software platforms for servers. This means that Microsoft has now been twice rejected in its bid to have SenderID accepted by the Internet Engineering Task Force, and must now reconsider whether it wishes to continue to offer the protocol to the open source community with differeing licensing arrangements.
