New MyDoom Worm
There have been a large number of MyDoom worm variants already released onto the internet. Normally they spread via attachments in infected e-mails, that the user has to open to activate and become infected with the MyDoom worm.
However, McAfee are now warning of a new variant that doesn't require the unwitting to open an attachment, but simply to click no a link embedded in the e-mail.
Obviously, this opens an entirely new front on internet security, and expands upon the ease with which machines may become infected.
Add this to the issue of phishing, and obviously what you have is a very serious situation indeed.
Microsoft is expected to release a new updated patch for Internet Explorer within the month.
