Google: domain registration services?

Link: Google: domain registration services?

by brian_turner

Netcraft reports that Google is now an ICANN-accredited registrar, able to resell domain registration services if it chooses to.

First reported by Bret Fausett in Google is a Registrar, and further developed by Netcraft in Google Is Now A Domain Registrar, the suggestion is that Google could use domain registration as a marketing device to supplement Blogger, and entice more people in with cheap personalised domain registration services.

Yahoo! already use domain registration services for marketing purposes, and currently has an extended promotion on, offering domain names for less than $6.

ICANN records show that Google is accredited with being able to sell .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .name, and .pro.

Google already offers AdSense for domain parking.
