The W3C announced this week that after rigorous testing, the new WSDL 2.0 standard has been released.
WSDL (Web Services Description Language) is commonly used in various HTTP web services applications, most commonly in SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol), which is used in various server API services provided by ISPs.
However, previous non-standardisation web services led to a lack of interoperability between different services.
The W3C made it a priority to ensure an interoperable standard for the WSDL 2.0, not least to work better with SOAP 1.2.
WSDL 2.0 has also been configured to work with emerging application platforms such as Semantic Annotations for WSDL (SAWSDL) and WS-Policy 1.5.
WSDL 2.0 was vigorously tested by the Web Services Description Working Group, which includes companies such as Adobe, BT, Canon, IBM, Oracle, Sun, Xerox, and Microsoft.
