WorldPay admin was again unavailable this morning, and apparently for a lot of Sunday, too:
Access to our payment and administration systems continues to be disrupted due to a large scale Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack, by a unknown third party. We are processing payments but fewer and more slowly than we normally would.
The attack began on Saturday evening at about 18:00 BST. WorldPay's payment and administration systems are working safely and securely, but the networks around them are being systematically flooded with requests for our service on a huge scale. During such an attack different customers will be affected at different times and to varying degrees. If a first attempt to make a payment does not succeed, please advise your customers to try again.
You may also experience difficulty in obtaining our websites. We usually post System Status information to the Customer Management System at www.worldpay.com/admin, but some customers have reported difficulty accessing the site.
You may be aware that other major companies around the world have been subject to Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks recently. While such attacks can be anticipated to some extent, it does take time to identify and deal with the exact nature of a particular attack which can also change several times, over several days. We continue to combat the attack and mitigate its impact, but cannot at this point predict when our service will be restored to normal.
We would like to emphasise that the integrity and security of your data has not, in any way, been compromised.
Please check the Customer Management System portal page at www.worldpay.com/admin where we post information about System Status on a regular basis. If this continues to be unavailable we will email you as soon as we have more information.
Yours sincerely
Thank you,
Ann Clarke
