AOL updates security

Today AOL updated it's proprietary software to include stronger security features.

The AOL 9.0 Security Edition software includes McAfee VirusScan Online, AOL Spyware Protection, antispam control and a system to thwart instant-messaging spam.

Security issues, not least phishing, spyware, and general spam, have enjoyed a high profile this year, and the new software update - and inclusion of security software for free when otherwise only available on subscription, is no doubt an attempt by a now struggling company to hold onto existing subscribers.
