Misconceptions about lead generation

Some of the comments are a little more towards direct marketing than I'm comfortable with. After all, I doubt I was the only one who squirmed when told that cold calling works. I know - I've seen competitors do it, and gain widespread sales from it.
However, the comments on websites was pretty indespensible. As one of the Platinax Community forum members commented upon not long ago, some businesses think nothing of spending a few thousand on a Yellow Pages entry for the local market, but then look for a cheap generic $20 web template to market their business online before millions.
The important of the internet for marketing and sales still has not filtered through to a lot of the local market.
