Sponsor a tramp
Seems as if there's nothing you can't sponsor these days. And the liberal Dutch have decided to mix philanthropy with advertising.
In a move that sounds so unreal you couldn't invent it, a bunch of Augustinian Nuns in Warmoesstraa, Holland, have set up a scheme whereby the homeless get a free winter coat, so long as they allow advertising on the back of the jacket: Advertising spreads - to beggars' coats
Homeless people in Holland are being given free winter coats - on the condition they allow firms to advertise on them.
Ice cream firm Ben & Jerry's has become the first to sign up for the service and hundreds of beggars in Amsterdam now sport warm jackets paid for by the US firm.
Homeless people who volunteer are given a coat with an advert for the company on the back. The campaign is scheduled to run for several months.
